The new 2013 Chevrolet Traverse stand 2nd in the list of top 25 best and affordable compact size SUV. The 2013 Chevrolet Traverse is a blend of spacious eight passenger interior, massive cargo, composed ride and solid fuel economy. However, there are still some people who want to see the Traverse a bit more powerful and composed.

 

Exterior and Interior

This year, Chevrolet revised the Traverse and offered some superior quality materials. The exterior of the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse is totally redesigned where the Chevy’s signature split grille is replaced by a smart nose, sharper tailgate, angled taillamps and sits either on 17 inch steel wheels or 18 inch or 20 inch alloy wheels. The car measures a wheelbase of 118.9 inch, 203.7 inch length, 78.5 inch width and 69.9 inch height. The total curb weight of 2013 Chevrolet Traverse is 4750-5000.

The midsize crossover is available in four different trim levels, LS, 1LT, 2LT and LTZ. The standard features of different trim levels include automatic headlamps, front and rear air conditioning, tilt and telescoping leather wrapped steering wheel, 6.5 inch touchscreen display, full power accessories, cloth/leather upholstery, trip computer, keyless entry, 8 way/10 way power driver seat, Bluetooth and audio connectivity and much more. The list of features increases when you move up to other trim levels.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2013 Chevrolet Traverse employs 3.6 liter V6 engine that sprints out 281 horsepower and 266 lb ft of torque. On the LTZ trim level the engine delivers 288 horsepower and 270 lb ft of torque because of the twin exhaust outlets. The EPA rated fuel economy is 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway for FWD and 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway for AWD. The engine is mated with six speed automatic transmission.

Safety

Four wheel antilock disc brakes, front, side and full length side curtain airbags for three rows, rearview camera, stability and traction control, OnStar safety package that includes on demand roadside assistance, stolen vehicle assistance, automatic crash notification, remote door unlocking and turn by turn navigation.

Pricing and Competition

The 2013 Chevrolet Traverse comes at a price range $30,510 to $42,425. Key rivals of the midsize SUV are Toyota Highlander, Ford Flex, Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda Pilot, GMC Acadia and Nissan Pathfinder.
