Honda to Launch the First Ever Intelligent Cruise Control System

Written by

Honda is to unveil its first predictive safety feature known as Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (i-ACC). Where a traditional Cruise Control just maintains a safe distance from the car in front, the i-ACC equipped vehicle will be able to predict possible interference of nearby traffic and automatically execute the safety measures.

The Intelligent system uses various cameras and sensors to evaluate a collision path. It can detect a threat 5 seconds before it may happen and slows down the car without startling the driver, who may not be aware of the danger.

The i-ACC system is a long leap in intelligent car technologies and will be available in 2015 European CR-V, Executive grade only.
