The New Volkswagen Golf R Gets A Significant Boost In Horsepower

The all new 7th generation Volkswagen Golf R gets the same 2.0 TFSI Powertrain that is offered to all new S3 models with a significant boost in horsepower, 296 horsepower and 280 lb ft of torque with an impressive and increased 18% fuel efficiency. The increased horsepower will help the new Golf R to lift from 0-62 mph in just 4.9 seconds with an improvement of 0.4 seconds from the rest of the Golf models. In this regard, the 2.0 liter TFSI engine delivers 30 more horsepower in the Golf R with 18% increased fuel economy that is now 40.9 mpg combined. The R Golf is mated with a DSG dual clutch automatic transmission and has an electronically controlled top speed up to 155 mph.

The Golf R hit the dealership in fall 2013. The 2013 year is the year of the Golf and lots of Golf models made its debut in the first six months of the year in Europe. The Golf R is a model with which Volkswagen continues its successful journey of launching powerful and fuel efficient vehicles.
